Actually, there is a very interest section in the center of New Jersey called the Pine Barrens. The soil is almost completely sand and not much other than cranberries, blueberries and short pine trees will grow there, hence the nam. Takes up almost 1/4th of the states land area and is very sparsely populated.

Was recommended to me by Derek Drew when I first got my Syncro.

There are other parts of New Jersey that are also beautiful and interesting. When I moved to Baltimore from Mississippi in 1986 and started traveling through New Jersey, in my 84 Vanagon of course, to participate in bicycle races, I was very surprised at how rural/small town much of the state was. My image from the press and the times that I had zipped up the NJ Turnpike and I-95 to New York had given me a very limited impression.
