Yes, this was exactly my concern. That being said, it has been my
experience (with other cars) that simply replacing the element does
relatively little. Most of the airflow restrictions are from bottlenecks in
airboxes, snorkles, etc. I have seen significant improvements in throttle
response by replacing entire airbox/snorkle/filter assemblies on otherwise
stock cars. (like a Taurus SHO, Jeep Cherokee, and others). These tend to
be expensive, and do cause additional intake "noise" which can sound like a
constant droning on the highway.
