Although the "schnorkel" might appear to be the limiting factor on fording, the ignition system will suffer first, then the muffler will fill with water after the motor stops, and of course if you're deep enough the cabin will leak up through the battery vent and ...

The schnorkel tries to keep particulates out of the aircleaner system and does a very good job of it coupled with the labyrinth dust trap and the massive paper air filter.

The K&N is no match for the stock system for delivering clean air.

FWIW I have several Syncro air filters (Cherman) for sale at a reasonable price yet to be determined but probably half of dealer price.
