>If it was produced in 5/86 wouldn't it be an 87? I think mfg dates have to be around August or September to be considered "next year's model". >I know mine (an 86) was produced in 5/85 and it has the ATC type fuses not >the old ones like my 73 Thing has...also the one other difference is the AC >Compressor is the Sanden 508 Model not the 709 (or 7 hundered something >anyway) that places advertise as "fitting all 86-91" 5xx = 5-cylinder compressor. 7xx = 7-cylinder. 08 or 09 (or whatever) = cu. in. displacement, IIRC. Mounting (bolt patterns) is identical, I believe. This is why the 7xx is considered a direct replacement for the 08 (backward compatibility). Note, however, that Sanden compressors came with a plethora of fittings for connecting the A/C lines. You might be able to upgrade an old 5xx with a 7xx by looking in the recycle yards. Volvo 850-series and some Jeeps (and many others I'm not aware of) used the Sanden brand. Dave -- Dave Carpenter Whatever you wish for me, May you have twice as much. |
