So the question then remains: has *anyone* done *anything* even remotely
objective to test the half-lilley mods?
Would someone perhaps do Frank's suggestion of 30-70mph times in 4th gear &
post that?
I already have the 1.4 rockers, chip & ECU, K&N, and am eyeing a freer
exhaust, but haven't installed them yet - not scared, I'm putting them in my
AW once I get it. If I got nothing or an actual power LOSS, I'd have to
open a vein! (I mean, uh, save up for an I4...)
I also don't recall people comparing their before/after mileage. Mick K,
others - want to chime in here?
Thanks,
David Jaffe

Boston Bob,
Very well said! The difference between the ego and the ID is sometimes hard
to fathom. When you have so much invested (cash, time and your best effort)
the numbers are always sobering and sometimes exhilarating. Unfortunately
many can't resist the desire to share their pain with others with
exaggerated
performance claims that lead those others down the same path. I painfully
recall the mileage improvements in which I took my college transportation
from 18 on the highway to 15.8. Was never able to fully recover to the stock
value with the thickness of my wallet at the time.
And the additional cost of Preparation H when SWMBO was done with me!
Thanks for wading through that lengthy missive and keep up the work on the
bench. The truth is always in the numbers.
