>>My fridge lights okay on propane but seems to go out pretty soon after I >>start driving. Anyone know what might be the cause of this? Hi Jon, I had the same problem and the list provided me with the answer. The cure is to get rid of any errant air currents blowing down your chimney. I pulled off the baffle arrangement on the side of the Westy --- do this carefully --- it's hard to put back together if you don't pay attention to taking it apart. Make sure that the top of the chimney lines up with the plate that it screws to. You can bend it into alignment with a broom handle stuck in the chimeny. This is crucial. Once it's lined up --- I used silicone caulking to ensure a good seal. I also caulked between the backing plate on the baffle and the body of the van when I was reassembling --- though thtis may have been overkill. My fridge will now stay lit on propane for days. Though this doesn't stop me from touching the baffle to make sure it's still hot every time I get in or out of the van :-) Cheers, Doug |
