The TBI system has less parts (one injector, no AFM, etc.)

Acually, TBI has a throttle position sensor (TPS), which does the same thing as the AFM. TPSs and AFMs are both potentiometers, TPS is mechanical (on the throttle body attached to the trottle valve), AFM is numatic, a flap that opens with air flow, the more air the more it opens. Both prforme the same function, to tell the ECU the position of the throttle (how much air is entering the engine).
