The best way to reach high speeds in your diesel  is to get a state
topographical map. It will show elevations at various locations in your
state. Many of them have the mountain ranges displayed in color, the
darkest portion is higher elevations. Get your Diesel to the top however
you can and go down the steepest slope you can find. This works well with
my 83 Air Cooled Westy.
