I read recently that putting chlorine in the water tank was a good idea to
control algae growth. Our house has a whole house water filter so we do not
have chlorine coming out of our hoses.

How much bleach should one put in a full tank of water to help prevent the
growth of algae? I just cleaned my tank and do not want to go through the
hassle again.
