Subject: Speaker wire polarity
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I've been following this thread with interest since I want to install a good CD player in my vanagon. I have learned from the list, and from a local car stereo shop, that all the new decks use 4-wire systems. Therefore the new speakers will have to be rewired. The local chains -- Good Guys, Best Buy, etc. -- will install the deck as a part of the purchase price (they say its free, but we all know that's not true). But they also want to charge for a couple of hours of extra labor to run wires to the back speakers. They describe it as a tedious job. It seems to me that this job shouldn't require a tremendous amount of skill, just time. Right up my alley. The problem is, I don't know where to run the wires. Has anyone done this who could give me some clues? Tom LaLanne '86 Westy Weekender
