Subject: Automatic Shifting Problem
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

Hi All,

13 months after having my automatic tranny rebuilt by Aamco (don't do it) which is 1 month after the warranty has run out, it has started to act strangely. It ran fine up until now, that is through 90 degree summer days and 20 degree winter ones.

When the engine is cold the revs have to get to about twice the normal level before it will shift from 1st to second, then about 50% higher before 2nd to 3rd. Once everything has warmed up (and the weather isn't that cold right now) it shifts OK for awhile. The warm up period can be just sat in the driveway so it isn't dependent on anything in the tranny warming up (I don't think, unless it's radiated heat from the engine)

When the van has been running normally for about 5 minutes it starts shifting a tad too early. Any ideas? The only thing I knew how to do was check the fluid level and that seems fine.

Thank you in advance Melvin Mudgett-Price.
