Also, I thought I'd just add this little tidbit about emission testing in Maine... the emission test here in Cumberland County consists of a "gas cap pressure test" - meaning they remove your gas cap and hook it to this little contraption to make sure it doesn't leak. That's it. Of course, the station I go to doesn't have an adapter for the Vanagon, so they just skip it entirely. >>

I have personally seen one of these engines in a Syncro in California. And yes, we do have the gascap test here. Yes, they do have an adapter for the Vanagon caps here.
