Subject: Tiico problem with simple solution
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I have wondered about this for a while and just had a problem with it today. On the Tiico conversion there is a rubber plug that comes with the kit. This rubber plug is supposed to go on one of the metal nipples that is on the fuel pressure regulator and is secured with a metal crimp clamp. When I did my first one of these conversions I thought to myself, "This rubber doesn't look like it is supposed to be used for fuel, it looks like something that you would use for coolant." And there is a similar plug on one of the plastic coolant nipples on the head of the engine in this conversion.

Well today one of my customers had this plug distintegrate on him. Praise God it didn't happen when he was on the road somewhere or when the van was hot, just when he was in his driveway and just starting the van. If you have a Tiico conversion, please remove this cheesy plug and replace it with something more substancial. I used a short piece of 7mm high pressure fuel hose with a bolt in one end for my other two conversions (I just couldn't bring myself to use this plug again). Just put the short bolt in one end and clamp the line on that end and then put the other end on the fuel pressure regulator nipple and clamp that. You can use either fuel line clamps or crimp clamps it is up to you. If you do it this way you should never have a problem. Not doing this you run the risk of a pretty nasty engine fire.

Just FYI.
