I have the Plat Cat 6P12 and I don't think it would be very useful for heating the van while moving. I use if for camping here in Colorado and it keeps the van warm but probably not warm enough to keep the whole interior warm while moving. With curtains up, poptop down and heater running full blast the temp will get be in the 60's throughout most of the van (colder in the rear warmer in front of heater) which is plenty warm enough for camping. This is with temps outside in the teens or single digits though. I sometimes heat up an iron skillet while awake for additional heat. I usually use it for weekend ski trips where it is commonly very cold at night. Advantages are that uses little propane and hardly any electricity. If you're a skiier or like to camp in the winter I highly recommend spending the $500 or so for a quality vented heater, it really opens up a whole new season of camping. I have thouroughly enjoyed the uncrowded, quiet and beauty of winter camping, not to mention all the money saved by never having to stay in a shitty overpriced hotel room. If anyone has any questions about using the 6P12 in the vanagon feel free to pmail me.
