Subject: 88 Vanagon auto transmission indicator lamps - how to change?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hi all,

As my subject line indicates, my light bulbs that illuminate the auto transmission gear position indicator have burned out.

My look through the Bently manual seems to indicate that somehow the top part of the interior 'transmission shifter tower' comes off to provide access to those burned out bulbs. I've done some minor prying with a screwdriver to see if the top would pop off, but so far no luck.

Can anyone out there enlighten me as to the secret? Also, once I get this cover off, do I need to have made a trip to the local VW shop to get new bulbs or can I expect to get what I need from FLAPS?

Thanks all.
