All owners of vehicles more than ten years old should take their fuel and
coolant lines VERY seriously. I have seen either crumble to the touch and I
have personally spent time under my westy at 4:30AM in a cold early fall
snow in a campground in the eastern Nevada high desert to locate a fuel leak
(long story) that drove my family out of the van into the cold. I had to
steal a hose clamp and a bit of rubber from the cooling system to stop the
leak. I, too am seriously guilty of ignoring these possibilitys. After
fairly recently discovering this list I started poking around a bit more
than usual in the engine compartment and literally had a coolant line from
the firewall to the block fall apart between my fingers.
