Subject: Shifter rubbing noise

Recently put a rebuilt tranny in my 90 syncro. After a couple of weeks, it developed a rubbing noise, just below and behind the shifter, when going into second gear. As I have had my hair on fire for about three weeks now, I haven't had a chance to tear down and check it out. Anyone know of a quick and easy fix, or even what it is? It seems like the linkage is too high an rubbing against bodywork or something. tx, bmc :) "Faith will move mountains, but you'd better bring a shovel...."
