I don't have any experience with the Mac, but I will tell you that the needs of
the business world is what has driven the expansion of the use of the so-called
PC's as opposed to the Macs. Marketing played a part, but ultimately it was
business needs. I do have a lot of experience on the PC's, and find that all the
programs that I run perform extremely well on the machines. I'm heavy into
database stuff Numbers crunching ability is what got the PC's a toe-hold in the
business market in the first place. Next came the decision by Big Blue to
release DOS architecture to public domain. That brought a flood of growth and
change in the PC world. Mac has just struggled to keep up. It's beginnings if I
understand correctly, began, and remained focused on the graphics world while
business really needed sophisticated numbers crunching capability that was easy.
Thus the rise of WinDos (pun). It was inevitable that with the huge expansion of
the PC's with the Windows operating system that the graphics would follow.
I suspect that the Macs are still superior for graphics, but where businesses
need broad use with multiple programs, who needs a separte system, when the
graphics programs can run so well on the company business machines.
Just my $0.02. IMHO
