I bought one a couple of years ago from Timmons VW, http://www.vwsubaru.com , part # 321 971 840. Let me know if you get to install it, because I'm still thinking about it. It doesn't look easy, but I'm contemplating cutting it one one of the seams, and gluing it back. Hector
I just replaced the rear hatch on my 82 Westy. The rubber wire loom for the rear window defroster in the upper left corner (facing the rear of the van) was shot (very brittle). Is this a dealer item and do you think it is still available? I figured I could make one with two rubber grommets and rubber tubing. Silicone can fix anything (no more whistling vent windows too). Now I no longer have rust around the rear window. No longer an eye sore either. I was fortunate enough to find a rear hatch the same color as my van. Imagine that. tim |
