stan/mike/et al... I have heard that synthetics do tend to leak more easily... after all smaller molecules need smaller holes to escape. That said, having converted my dino burning low-mileage (38K) WBX to synthetic when I got in almost two years ago, I experienced no leaks. However, I did experience a lot of what I guess they call "blow-by." My engine USED more oil, again no doubt due to the smaller molecules. But I liked the way the synthetic made my engine run. My solution was to go to a synthetic/dino blend, whereby getting the best of both. Better lubrication, less usage, no leaks. I change every 5K. Also, since they sell, and I use, synthetic/dino blends, seems to reason that you could add dino to synthetic or vice-versa without any problem. Not that you would want to contaminate the synthetic unless you had no choice, but... Anyway, that's been my experience. 60K now and purring like a kitten (or as close as a WBX ever comes to sounding anything like a small cat). mick 89 syncro westy hilo, hawaii |
