You CANNOT eliminate crankflex in a VW boxer of any kind; counterweighting won't do it entirely. there are TWO opposing big-ends without a main between, and this is where VW boxers fail at high RPM. No matter what you do, the mains, big-ends & case will get chewed-out and rods flex, causing piston/bore wear and broken rods.

Subarus have 5 mains, VW only 3. I suspect Porsche 6-boxers have 7. -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut
