Could work, I think. A lot of (most?) newer A/C units run with the fan slinging water through the condenser, both to get rid of the water and to improve efficiency. Might want to bear that in mind.

For the vent, I bet you could go through the bottom instead of the side. Unfortunately I don't remember details, but I had to rebuild that area of mine (on the sliding-door side) and the duct went right to the bottom (because they're using the structural pillar for the duct.
