Sorry for a dumb newbie question, but does VW still sell rebuilds of the wasserboxer? Here in Minnesota there are only two dealers, i've been told, that will even look at a Vanagon. But my understanding is they don't sell remans. Could be *totally* wrong... just what i've heard and read.

And... sorry to play devil's advocate, but how many VW dealers are there in out-of-the-way places? I recently drove through Podunk, Iowa... didn't see a VW dealer anywhere.

From where i sit, if the body and camper stuff of my "new" Westy lasts long enough to warrant a rebuilt engine, my money is with Boston Bob and his "big valve" upgrade.
