Subject: Re: who has upgraded their front vanagon door SPEAKERS??

Hi Chris,
I bought some 3 1/2" Kenwoods that I got from Crutchfield a couple of months
ago and installed them in the front door panels...They'll fit in the stock
grille, but I had to bend back the little bolt-holes to get them in there.
They are cheap @ $29 but sound pretty good.
As far as the rear speakers, I'm not sure if those surface-mount Pioneers,
Jensens, etc. will hang up back there. I haven't really seen any way to
anchor them. I bought some 6" flat-surface mount Pioneers and put them
below the back seat on that wood front cover, and they sound fine too.
The OE ones hanging in the top back are disconnected in my van. I bought a
brand-new pair of those and cracked them within one week.
I'm not trying to thump or blast or go crazy, but just listen to the Allman
Brothers with a little volume, and this setup seems to work okay...
Hope that helps!

who has upgraded their front vanagon speakers? you know, the crummy, tinny
sounding stock ones in the front doorpanels...if so what brand and model did
you go with when you upgraded?? i am looking for a speaker that is about
the same size as the stock vanagon speaker, doesnt require much or any
cutting of the doorpanel, and doesnt stick out much or any furthur than the
stock vanagon front speakers.. as i dont want to be hitting the window
crank
knob with it, or for it to get crunched against the side of the dash when i
close the door..
also, i have a passenger van with front a/c so it has the speaker pods that
hang down in the rear from the cieling.. any good source for upgrades for
these?
and ideas/brands/models tips would be appreciated...
TIA
chris
