Hi All, I'm new to the list and am considering getting a pop-top camper. Should I? I drove VW buses during the late 70's and 80's; first a '71 bus and then a '79. I really liked the enormous room and great mileage but wanted more creature comforts as I got older. I am now spoiled by air conditioning and a bit of power for acceleration. We drive an older '88 Toyota Land Cruiser and a Toyota Avalon. I'm fantasizing about a pop-top camper for fly fishing trips to the Eastern Sierras of California. The Toyotas are bullet-proof and have got me used to almost no repair bills. Here's the question--Can a fifty-year-old return to his bus days *and* get air conditioning and a bit of power? What year(S) campers seem to be the most maintenance free? Should I look into a Vanogan or Eurovan? Thanks for any help you can give an old rookie, Dave |
