Mike, you are quite right. I had forgotten. The fan is a muiltispeed fan, does come one when the AC is switched on, and when it goes to HIGH it will turn off the AC to reduce the AC load on the engine. It's ironic that when the weather is so hot you need the max from the AC for "Cabin Cooling" so to speak, but if it's that hot the engine must be preserved ahead of anything else so the AC shuts off.
