You are about 60 miles away from a superb Vanagon mechanic. It would be worth towing the van to Lehmanns Auto on Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA. (about 10 miles from our shop). They know Vanagons extremely well, and are honest and thorough. They are not the cheapest garage around (nor the most expensive), but they are well worth what they charge, as they'll do the work correctly and will not do work you don't need. However they are usually quite busy, so you should call them first at 610-367-7045. If you explain the situation, they may try to squeeze you in. They usually do their best when such emergencies come up, unless they are just so busy that it is impossible. There are both a campground and a hotel within walking distance of their shop if neccessary. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc.
