Dear Volks, I've been experiencing intermittent "hard shifts" with my automatic transmission for the last few weeks. Typically, as I'm beginning acceleration from a stop, the RPS's will rev up a bit and then the transmission will suddenly (and forcefully) shift into the next gear. Again this is intermittent, especially when the engine is cold. Also, a faint whining noise can be heard when the van is sitting at idle--the noise drifts in and out and isn't very noticeable. I've been considering a transmission flush at ~ $125.00, but would like to hear feedback from anyone who has found this effective beyond a preventative maintenance. The fluid was changed in it about four months ago, so I've hesitated to perform the flush. Thanks a bunch! Tom Naylor '85 automatic westy |
