Jason, The 'bleed' screw threw me for a loop as well the first time I tried to purge the system of air. The bleed valve only allows coolant to flow between the top and bottom coolant pipes so it's more of a bypass valve. You will never see any coolant come out. Search recent archives on this subject. Someone has an excellent web page on coolant system bleeding that I failed to bookmark. Doh! > I'm a newbie to the list and to Vanagons, so thanks to all who help us out. We had the water pump replaced but the mechanic never bleed the system. The van was then driven for about 600 mi. When I went to bleed the system myself because the coolant light was blinking, nothing happened, no bubbles, no coolant. I assume the water pump is dead (coolant tank is full) and just would like a second opinion. Thanks to all who respond. > > Jason > |
