I have a Sun 3.5" Mini-tach mounted over where the digital clock would appear on a later model Vanagon. For a look, go here: http://home.earthlink.net/~tjhannink/photos/SunTach.jpg

I bent the bottom of the bracket back 90 degrees, flipped it upside down and attached it to the recess for the warning lights with double-sided tape. I also drilled a small hole in the cluster directly behind the tach to pass the wires through.

Make sure you test fit it before drilling. Mine clears the back of the steering wheel spokes by about 1/4".
