You have the timing wrong, it is the same as a bug, 1-4-3-2, and #1 is to
the right front, then #2 to the rear, #3 to the front left and #4 left rear.

Since the van has always run well up to the point where the AFM finally gave
out, I don't beleive that there is anything mechanically out of whack.
