Hello, today my exhaust flange cracked [because yesterday I put the "Mechanics Wanted" sticker in the rear window] so now I have a loud panzerkampingwagen. But, strange enough, it now, finally, is able to idle when warm. Rises from 1100 to about 1400-1500, then cuts out as if ignition or fuel went away until engine speed drops to 1000 rpm, then it runs again and starts to slowly rise in idle speed. Cycle time is about 3-5 seconds between low and high idle. Could maybe my catalytic converter be plugged? my O2 sensor (new) is hooked up and it runs better now that there is air introduced in exhaust system. This is a 1985 Westy with the DH 1.9L engine and 199,673 miles on it, with a newly rebuilt manual tranny (Thanks Daryl at AA). Also, it's getting time towards a rebuild motor as #3 is around 70 PSI. I know when I replace motor I should replace entire exhaust system (needs it anyway) and radiator along with throttle body and all fuel and vacuum hoses. Anybody got any ideas what else needs to be replaced? Engine runs just fine other than fast idle when warm (before exhaust cracked it idled at 2000 rpm continuously when warm). Not sure if rebuilds come with H2O pumps but mine is new. Fuel injectore are about 15,000 miles old. Regarding exhaust - I will need to keep what appears to be catalytic converter (even if I bash out the insides) as PA does inspections. Any new news on stebro or S&S?
