Ron-

When I took the water tank cover off (this one had the broken spring) I didn't see anything that would deter carefully removing the old spring and pushing a new spring into the slot where they "welded" then new one. The old spring was snapped on the side that enters the van. The old spring came right out of the hole. Can't see why anyone with a little patience could make it work.

If you have a spring available, I would be willing to buy it, work with it and report back my findings.

What about asking the manufacturer if they would sell JUST the cover with spring and pin assembly? That would make things better for those of us who just need that replaced.

Thanks! Steve 85 Westy Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

When I asked the original manufacturer about this once, they replied that the spring/pin were installed in the manufacturing process before the unit was fully assembled, such that re-installing them onto an already-assembled unit would be difficult or impossible. I cannot confirm (and have not looked too carefully myself), just relaying what the manufacturer told me.

If they could be proven wrong, I'd be interested myself. I detest having to sell a whole new inlet to everyone whose cover or spring is broken!
