Subject: 1991 Silver Westy for Sale --- 47,000 miles in excellent shape
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

This is not my Van, but I examined it for some friends who were thinking about buying a van. If I didn’t already have a 1991 Van and two other vehicles, I would have purchased it. In fact, I seriously considered buying it, but my wife talked me out of it (get the picture!). Someone on the list looking for a good van should look at it. I was very impressed!

1991 Silver Westy with 47,000 miles 4 speed with AC, auxiliary battery Asking $14,500 Located in Waynesboro, VA Owner is Carolyn Massie at carolynmassie@hotmail.com Her phone is 540-949-6059

Carolyn is the second owner of the van and has owned it for a year. She purchased it from an elderly couple who kept it garaged but were no longer able to use the van. Carolyn has had the van thoroughly checked over and minor problems corrected by Rule Honda/Volkswagen in Staunton, VA.

My impressions: Overall, this is an excellent van. I saw no rust, or dents, etc. It drove great, the engine seemed strong and the four-speed transmission shifted smoothly. The tires are not the originals but are the correct "reinforced" and discontinued Michelins —forgot the model letters. No sign of exterior head gasket leak. Air Conditioner works fine. When checking it over, I discovered that the fridge didn’t work. The dealer corrected a blockage (?) and it supposedly now works fine.

Exterior paint is in excellent shape. Since the van was garaged, the rubber window and door and top seals all appear in great shape. The interior has two minor and very small cigarette burns. One burn is on the driver’s seat and another is on the floor carpet. The only thing I found wrong is that the previous owner rigged a doorbell switch to the sink faucet to make the faucet work. Your guess is as good as mine on this—probably needs a new faucet and integrated switch.

While the van looks good as it is and is very clean, a good wax job and a thorough detailing will make this thing sparkle.

I believe you will be hard pressed to find a 91 Westy for sale in better shape than this one at this price.

Contact Carolyn, not me.

I have no interest in this other than trying to help a list member find a good van.
