Along those lines, I was looking a VW Trends magazine the other day and saw an ad for a company that makes custom roll-back canvas tops for just about anything...Would it be possible, feasible, or just plain stupid to cut a giant hole in your top, then try to attach a custom-made rollback vinyl top? Would it be too noisy or not stay on or leak or what? Just curious if anybody's ever heard of anyone trying it.

i'd have to agree w/ your wife.. :<) the sunroof vanagon has a whole different roof section, its actually a double roof..unlike regular hardtop vanagons with a single roof, the sunroof vanagons have 2 layers of sheetmetal, inwhich the sunroof tracks/cables/etc reside, and into which the roof slides back in.. plus all the drains for the roof that go down into the B and D pillars.. not worth the hassle IMO (tho was going to do this w/ my ex-'67 deluxe microbus, its a ragtop sunroof tho)

as far as the SA Quad headlight grille etc, many listvendors are importing them. ive got the setup on my 84 sunroof van. all you need is a set of '80-'84 headlight buckets to swap your square headlights out with (i have a set of round headlight buckets if you need them) chris '84 wolfy sunroof SUNBUS
