I'd say it's a case of discernment. If you're cutting up the dash and suspension on a one-owner '58 23-window deluxe or bolting a Chevrolet 4WD chassis beneath a Ferrari 250 GTO, THAT's desecration. But if you're like me, and have a tri-color (one's primer) '81 Transporter with a rotting vinyl back seat and whitewall tires, any mods I'm planning are bound to be an improvement. Even if I were light the thing on fire, I'd only be out $1200, and the neighborhood would be rid of one more eyesore! (I think it's beautiful, but that's beside the point...)
