Facts about HF (ie CB) antennas. You need 3 things to be heard: Grounding, Antenna length, Antenna height. I've used a marine antenna mounted on the side of the luggage rack with great success. They are self grounding (1/2 wave design) so they don't require a big magnet or drilling of metal, mounting on the luggage rack gives you the height, and they are long enough to give your signal a bit of radiation.
