Not sure if the Synchro has a similar clutch arm to the 2 wheel drive but on my 87 GL once you remove the outer circlip the lever will slide off the splined shaft. In my case i went out and rented a puller as no amount of Liquid Wrench and effort would budge the arm. Once the puller was installed and used it came off in moments. The puller was some sort of universal tool.................pitman arm puller(?) ..................used in the automotive industry.
