Yo Ken! Congrats on the New Baby! Fantastic news! Hey, I just wanted to thank you for last week's discussion (that turned out to be very timely) regarding fuel leaks with TiiCo conversions, or any Vanagon for that matter. The darn plastic nipple thing on the firewall (025 133 322 A) cracked ever so slightly on the backside, sending fuel pooring onto the starter (ol' sparky). MTBE the cause, or just old age? Because of that discussion I knew what to do about the problem. I've since re-routed the fuel line (yes, new stuff) through a perfectly sized grommet stuffed into that hole and connected it directly to the black plastic fuel line, as you had suggested. Looks great and reduces the thing by 2 hose clamps and one short, tired and crusty hunk of fuel line. I doubt any of this is related to the TiiCo set-up. Just a fact of life for old VW's. How many times have we seen someone write "CHECK YOUR FUEL LINES"? Well, they ain't kiddin'! Check 'em all, every single dingle one of 'em! Anyway, good Karma to you!! ...and Viva the Vanagon list! -Ryan '89 TiiCo 5-sp We$tfalia, with an A3 fuel rail (what a story that is...)
