Hi All can some one please help? Here's the story as told by the digi-wife: "First there were brakes and then they were gone... no matter how much you pumped they wouldn't come back." Now the facts: 1. 88 GL (vanilla flavored with manual tranny) 2. I investigate the problem, no leaks at the wheels and pedal would fade when press (engine off, not moving) 3. I replace the master cylinder Now the problem: 1. booster makes (pardon the term) a slight "farting" sound when applying brakes (no smell) 2. Brakes work 3. Brakes now engage at the bottom of pedal movement as opposed to top of pedal movement (digi-wife worried but I told her they now work like the brakes in my 90 GL, still worried) 4. master cylinder purchased from dealer (after market type) 5. Master cylinder had three prong brake light sensors (pre 86), had to move old two prong sensors from old unit 6. Checked check valve in engine compartment (per master Bentley's request) and it is OK (massive pain the butt to get off) 7. After market master cylinder is German made (Stueck) but marked 251 611 021 C and checks out with EKTA
The question: What do you think is wrong? Booster?... cylinder? ... etc?
Thanks in advance. Jere 90 GL 88 GL |
