Today I had an opportunity to see some oil pans being removed from late model engines. Almost all of the Japanese engines had windage trays. I didn't stay around while they started on two BMWs and a Volvo engine. Seems strange that VW stopped using the windage trays in the pre-Vanagon years. In addition I picked up a windage tray for a 2000cc Type IV engine if someone wants it, drop me a note. Also I've still got this 1985 Vanagon owner manual for $7.00 postage paid.
