The wobble should be minimal. The rear bearing sits in a nylon bushing. The rebuilds often use a cheap bushing that will wear or creep out in time causing the bewaring to come loose. The rotor will hit the stator coil and may cause some damage. The alternator may also whine from the rotor being miss-aligned. If you have 1/4" of play, it should be repaired to avoid a sudden failure. Dennis
