| I assume there is some kind of screening over the grilles. Is it effective in | keeping bugs out of the radiator without impeding air flow.

Yes, it keeps the bugs out. I removed the screening over the headlamps, though, to make it easier to wipe the headlamps clean, when needed.

| Does it impede airflow at all through the radiator and A/C condenser?

Depends upon whether or not the screening is original. I had the torn screening in my Westy's mask (a.k.a. bra) replaced by a local auto upholstery shop a couple of years ago. Although the replacement screening wasn't as "open" as the original, I paid the man and went happily on my way. A few months later, while travelling though Montana in 100 F temperatures, the van began to run hotter than usual. Something fishy here, I thought, so I pulled over, removed the mask and continued on my way. From thereon, the van ran at normal temperatures. I've since replaced the screen (again) but this time with a more "open" mesh.
