Subject: Coolant hose substitutes
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Greetings all: I am in the process of getting my newly acquired 87 Westy ready for a long trip, and have decided to take the plunge on replacing hoses (thanks to listees who responded to that question). My next question is: I read a post in the archives about a guy who took off his hoses then walked the aisles at his FLAPS (because there was no application listed in the catalog for Vanagons) and came away with some find substitutes for the original, and ridiculously expensive, coolant hoses. I believe that gentlemen was driving a Syncro. This post was dated, if I rememer correctly, 1996. Anyone try this recently? Anyone have words of encouragement/discouragement to offer? Thanks Bob W
