Those part numbers are for a 4-speed, not an automatic. Which trans do you really have? The rear cover does not crack on its own. Something broke it. There is also a vent hole on top. Is it possible the transmission was overfilled or the oil is contaminated with water causing it to foam and come out the vent?

I have a leaky automatic transmission... my mechanic tells me it is from a cracked rear cover on the end of the transmission... the part number is VW...091 301 205 E and of course the gasket is VW...091 301 215 A i have enough mortgages on my house, any one have or know of a very good used one? By the way i live in Dartmouth Nova Scotia CANADA thanks
