Subject: Operating Temperatures
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

I drove the van on the highway for a while today (30 miles) and took a reading with my cool new infrared thermostat, and here were the results:

Crossover Pipe: 199 deg Engine case from underneath (near the center) as high as 210 deg Radiator, top passenger side, 180 Radiator, near fan switch, (may not be a clean reading) 160

After another 30 miles, I tried again, and the results were as follows. I assume that this means that the thermostat had closed:

Crossover Pipe: 198 deg Engine case from underneath (near the center) as high as 202 deg Radiator, top passenger side, 140 Radiator, near fan switch, (may not be a clean reading) 120

Bently says that the thermostat does not even fully open until 221 deg, so I assume that the van is running just about right at the observed temps.

Anybody have specific knowledge about this?

Thanks, Peter
