Subject: Westy LP fill valve Blue's---

Hey all,---

I have a minor ( maybe) problem----

I went to have my propane tank filled this morning and the tank wouldn't take anything---not a drop.

I was kinda bummed, and dug around for my owner's manual, and I found the pamphlet for the mfg. of the LP tank--some place out in California----

Some cutie picked up the phone, and after I explained my problems, she casually told me that the valve has an inherent filling problem, the original valve company was kaput, her company had bought all the parts necessary to rebuild the valve, at an easy $50.00, plus , plus , plus----

I told her I cold probably buy a new tank for not much more--she laughed, and gave me a return number---

Now the question----

Isn't there a direct drive valve for these tanks, that will eliminate all the garbage that goes wrong with them?

I looked at my 74 Westy tank today, and it is simple--no extra valves, thumb wheels, or reset button's-----

Will any propane inlet coupling work, as long as the threads are the same as the tank's?

Or is there another solution?

I called camper world today, and the guy there told me he just sold a 22 gallon ( or pound) tank with all the valves for $108.00 yesterday--the cutie out in Cal., told me that the 3 pounder, will cost me over $300.00---how can this be possible?

Thanks for the input, or answer's---

Later,
