If you have absolutely zero resistance across the sensor then that could be the problem.

When I measured my sensor its reading did not match the value quoted in Bentley. I don't recall what Bentley quotes but mine was off by a factor of 10. My guess is Bentley called for 90 - 110 ohms and I read 900 ohms (this could be reversed). Since it did not match Bentley I coughed up the $30 for a new part and found that the new part did not match Bentley either. It matched my old sensor's reading.

The point of all of this is your sensor should not have zero ohms. If it is truly zero then maybe you want to buy my spare part?

Folks,

Yesterday after work I ran through the Bentley's flow chart of "how to diagnose your cruise control."

Every test worked exactly as the book said it should.....except, of course, the last one where you check ohms across the speed sensor. The action to take since I had infinite ohms, according to the book, is to replace the speed sensor.

I pulled the instrument cluster and the little sensor. It seems fine... there is no resistance across it... it has no moving parts to break.

So.... the problem must be (somewhere) in the wiring between the cruise control unit and the speed sensor. Sound logical?
