We have a local "odd-lot" outlet (Ocean State Job Lot) and they have MREs. They ran a special 2/$1 for large meals, 3/$1 for small meals and desserts. I bought about $5 worth to just for the hell of it. They had pasta alfredo, chilli, peaches in syrup, etc. I'll admit I haven't tried them yet....but they seem to be good enough to have a shelf life comparable to the life of headgaskets on wasserboxers!
