I agree 100%. I recently had a conversation with a fellow running a fleet of trucks hauling St Augustine grass all over the country. I said "Cars engines last longer because of cleaner fuels and lower compression, and most of the Chevys, Ford trucks were still using the big engine bearings that were designed to handle the high compression and high octane fuels of the middle fifties." He said, like you; its was mostly improved motor oils, but the "smaller engines turned more RPMs and tend to run hotter so better oil wasn't an option". ------------- By the way ...... what ever happened to the ceramic coated pistons and cylinder heads that were supposed to be coming in new cars five years ago?
